A message from my heart to yours! (Betina)

When I was finishing our tax returns I wrote a letter with my feelings in the moment and I want to share it with you. It is very personal but I love what came out. It is from my heart to yours!

Creating Clara Woods Collection with Clara and for Clara is a journey where I’m learning to enjoy the process and most of the time adapt my pace to Clara, which is not easy at all.

I have lots of fear of making wrong decisions, especially in management, because I fear what others can say or how they can judge what I'm doing included Clara herself. Everything goes so fast that it is difficulty to take the time to understand what Clara goes through everyday and which talents she has to share with the world. After I had Davi I thought being a mom was easy, because he had many more daily abilities than Clara to make things happen to himself and to be independent.

Our tasks as parents is to give wings to our kids and teach then how to fly. But what if your kid is born without a hook to attach these wings?

This is what happened with Clara. I needed to find a way to create and adapt a hook, and a completely new way of flying. And the world is not ready for butterflies like Clara!

As a women (because yes, I’m still here, I' not just the mom) my everyday decision is to chose to create and adapt this hook for Clara’s wings and learn together with her how to fly. I know I had opportunities that other women growing kids with disabilities didn't have, and this is one of the reasons I’m not giving up.

I would give up everyday because I’m afraid to create the wrong hook, to not teach Clara well, I’m afraid to make mistakes and be judged by them. I'm afraid to fail!

I’m not giving up because almost every time I see Clara walking in her way and fighting to do stupid daily things, some strength grows inside me and I’m ready again to conquer the world with her, for her and for all the other kids that are considered a weight for society but they just want to shine their light and their light can bright all over.

I’m trying to do my best to keep up with everything, to learn how things work here in the USA (by the way I love to be here), to do my best to make this business profitable and create a reality where Clara will be able to live without me with the help she needs but more independent possible.

I’m looking forward to getting better every year and making our business, our mission a model for other families and people with disabilities and lighting many more lights in the way!

Sending love and colors,
Betina
