"I WISH THEY WOULD TAKE ME AS I AM" VAN GOGH
BE REAL. NOT PERFECT!

YOU CAN’T CONTROL HOW OTHERS SEE YOU

In 2018, Clara stood in awe of Vincent Van Gogh’s art at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, Italy. The vibrant colors and raw emotions in his work struck a deep chord, especially his yearning to be accepted for who he truly was. Inspired by his vulnerability and courage, Clara returned to her studio the next day and poured her feelings into a masterpiece she called Vincent.

Van Gogh once said, “I wish they take me for who I am.” This sentiment, paired with Clara’s belief in “Be real, not perfect,” reminds us of something powerful: you can’t control how others see you, but you can embrace who you are and let go of the need for perfection. Just like Clara’s painting, Vincent, life can be bold, imperfect, and still full of beauty.

REDIRECTING YOUR FOCUS TO WHAT’S MATTER

Hang Vincent in your space as a daily reminder to accept yourself and others as they are. It’s about redirecting your focus to what’s within your control—your emotions, your actions, and your own journey. Let this art inspire you to find peace in imperfection and strength in authenticity.

  • When I saw Vincent Van Gogh’s art for the first time, it was like something inside me woke up. I was at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, and there it was—his colors, his feelings, his whole soul poured into the canvas. I couldn’t stop looking. It wasn’t just the paintings; it was him. I learned about his story, how he struggled to be understood, how people didn’t take him seriously, and how he kept going anyway. That made me feel like I could keep going too.

The next day, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I picked up my brushes and painted my first portrait of Vincent. Since then, I’ve drawn and painted him so many times. He inspires me to create without fear, just like Frida Kahlo does. Vincent and Frida—they both showed me that even when life is hard, art can still be beautiful.

Whenever I feel like giving up or like people don’t understand me, I remember Vincent. He reminds me that it’s okay to be different, to feel deeply, and to keep creating no matter what. His art changed my perspective on everything, and now I try to do the same with my own paintings—to put my emotions out there and share my story with the world.

FAQ

  • I’m Clara Woods—an artist, entrepreneur, and game-changer on a mission to inspire. I was born a a stroke in my mom’s womb, which left me unable to speak, read, or write. But that hasn’t stopped me! I understand three languages and found my voice through art. My bold, colorful paintings reflect my resilience, passion, and determination to share my story with the world.

When I was just 12, I held my first exhibition in Florence, Italy. My mom, Betina, believed in my dream, and together we built Clara Woods Collection, turning my passion for art into a thriving business. I became an entrepreneur, showing that creativity and ambition have no limits—no matter your age or abilities. My mom even sold her own successful company to focus on my career, and our bond is at the heart of everything we’ve achieved.

Today, I’ve hosted over 30 exhibitions across three continents, sold more than 800 original artworks, and built an amazing global community of over 1.5 million followers. I was honored to be named an Internet Gamechanger by Forbes and Facebook for the positive impact I’ve made on inclusion and creativity.

Through my work, I lead The Inclusion Matters Movement, advocating for diversity and showing that being different is a superpower. My story is about resilience, love, and dreaming big. Explore my art and see the world through my eyes—you might just feel inspired!
